The Sleepless Knights Charter
Sleepless Knights exists, and always has done, as a place where friends get together and play the game as it should be.

We are foremost a community guild who achieve end game experiences through our own hard work and dedication.

Our members are encouraged to be positive and fair at all times, in guild groups and pickup groups, in return the guild is positive and fair towards our members. We promise a very open style of leadership where any decision is explained in full, and constructive challenges to those decisions are encouraged not ignored.

We hope you enjoy being a part of SK.

Code of Conduct

The Sleepless Knights strive to be the best players on Shattered Hand, not always in terms of abilities but in how we conduct ourselves. Our code of conduct is quite strict, but should be second nature to the type of people we want in the guild.

1. Demonstrate core values of truth, sharing, fun, and respect

2. Be 18 years old or older (exceptions will be made when supported by an existing member)

3. Don’t join any group that you can’t finish

4. No ganking

5. No offensive language in guild chat

6. All active raiding characters should be in the guild. If you leave to raid, your alts must leave too

Guild ranks

Officer: A player who upholds the Guild Charter and strives to protect the future of the Guild. They must be exemplary members of SK and of the gaming community. If offline for two months, they are demoted to Legend rank.
The current Officers are:
  • Raptin
  • Sjempagne
  • Multifarious
  • Poiters
Legend: A retired Officer. Either a player who has not played for some time, or has decided to step down as a guild leader. They have earned membership for life: Haiku (Guild Founder), Looneytunes (Guild Founder), Perrina (Guild Founder), Respite (Guild Founder), Terrani (Guild Founder), Safina (Guild Founder), Atla, Cisnux, Defender, Eedle, Lilgrun, Nooble, Smallfellow, Tehwin, Zarb, 8ball, Pecu, Illy, Tom / Salisbury, Sharunos, Vernius.

Quartermaster: a trusted and helpful member of the guild who has multiple maxed out professions on their characters. Their skills are used to maintain stocks in the guild bank. They can also carry out transactions for Members from the guild bank. They report directly to the Officers.

Member: Players who conform to the guild Charter and represent the core values of SK. After two months offline these characters will be made "Inactive”; then after six months off, will be removed from the guild. Bank access includes deposit to all tabs and ability to purchase items along the guidelines in the bank section.

Alt: as above, alt characters

Initiate: When invited to the guild, players have a two-week initiate period (which can be extended up to a maximum of four weeks at officer's decision). During this time the rest of SK vote on their recruitment thread. Bank access includes deposit to all tabs.

Inactive: After two months, guild Members are demoted to this rank and cannot speak in guild chat. This rank is used for the Officers to see at-a-glance the activity levels in the guild list. Players can be promoted back to Member status after a long break by contacting an Officer in-game or on the website. After 6 months offline, characters will be removed from the guild list.

Baldrick: A "sin-bin” style disciplinary rank. Players will be demoted to this rank due to breaking the code of conduct as outlined in the Charter. Any disciplinary action taken by the Officers MUST be explained to the affected player and the guild at large. The rank "silences” the player in guild chat and will then be spoken to by the Officers.

Recruitment and the Initiate process

  • Depending on the number of active players in the guild, recruitment will be encouraged and advertised on the realm forums. During high activity the influx of new players is limited to friends and family of existing guild members.
  • Once an application form has been seen and accepted by an Officer, it is the responsibility of the applicant to make contact in-game.
  • Once invited to the guild, the player must be an Initiate for two weeks during which time the Members vote on his/her recruitment thread on the website.
  • Any "no” votes with a supporting explanation will result in the player failing the Initiate period and asked to leave the guild.
  • Initiate status will last no longer than one month, if by this time a player has not received significant feedback / votes on their recruitment poll then they will fail their Initiate period. Inactivity or a failure to integrate into the guild community will also reflect poorly on the player. So, if you want to be a part of SK, get involved from the start and prove yourself!
  • Alt characters will be invited once Member status has been awarded.

Guild communication and Mumble

  • The guild community extends beyond Azeroth and Outland to the website at http://skn.org.uk/. You have come this far to apply to SK, we ask that you keep up to date with guild affairs through the website; or simply stop by to say "hi" and have fun! The website is used to organise raids, share ideas about the game, organise items to be crafted and much more, so get online!
  • Mumble software can be downloaded for free and the Officers maintain a server for guild use. This is essential for raiding and also used for socialising. We currently use version 1.2.3, just type "mumble” into google to find the program. Please ask the permission of an Officer if non-guild Members are joining you on mumble.

Trading as a Sleepless Knight

  • There is no profit making between guild members - trade skills are used to support each other. Costs should be covered and fair prices asked for.
  • The guild bank is a resource for the entire guild. Officers and Quartermasters can withdraw from all tabs. Members can deposit materials that they would consider useful for the guild into the deposit tab and withdraw 1 stack per day from the 'Free' tab. Items in the 'For Sale' tab can be bought for half the AH price - contact an Officer or Quartermaster in-game for purchases.

Raiding as a Sleepless Knight

  • As stated above, mumble is a must for raids, tactics and loot will be discused using it.
  • Players are expected to research tactics independently - youtube ftw
  • See loot system section below
  • Be punctual for raids, and try and stay for the duration, communicate "afk" and any issues in /ra chat.
  • Another must for raids is a good pet or companion!

Loot Systems

  • Need items that you will use – priority system based on class and spec i.e. mail items go to a Shaman before a Paladin – mana per second stat items are priority for healers.
  • PuG and fun raids – Master Looter system used with the rules above – our simple aim is for the loot to go to the people who need it most and for the loot to be spread throughout the raid group (not one person getting lots and some getting nothing) as such we would expect Members to pass on items for their friends if they have already received items. This is at the discretion of the Guild Member.
  • Though we do trust members to be fair in their rolling against guildies, sometimes people get caught up in the purples without even noticing. As such final loot distribution will be at the lootmaster's discretion after confirmation with other Officers. Trust your lootmaster, for they will have the guild members' interests at heart.
  • Progress Raids – as we're currently focused on 10 man progress raiding we find it unnecessary to use a system other than /roll. Main spec / main over alt rules are still to be obeyed. The ML / raid leader will always have the final word in loot distribution in order to maintain fairness and reward vs. effort balance.

The Sleepless Knights Charter was created by the Founders of SK in November 2006 and re-posted by the Officers in June 2009 after the retirement of many of the Founders.

The Charter has since had minor amendments, largely to accommodate end game progression. However the Core of the SK Charter and the SK Ethos behind it still remains the same to this day and we hope that as Members of SK - you will fight to preserve it!
